We still have availability at Villa Kinaree in Seminyak over Christmas and New Year. Christmas in Bali can be an amazing experience either escaping the freeze or the heat, Villa Kinaree offers pure tropical charm with its verdant green gardens, refreshing pool, and luxurious facilities. It might rain, but swimming in a downpour can be a true pleasure. And, if it hasn’t rained in a while, as the sun returns, the world smells so fresh and clean perfumed by a heady mix of frangipani, jasmine, bougainvillea, and cempaka complimenting the many other tropical plants and flowers in our gardens.

If that’s not enough, here are some ideas to persuade friends and family to join the fun:

If you are a Christian and worship is a must to fully appreciate the Christmas spirit, Dyana Pura Protestant Church is an easy 10-minute walk from the villa or a couple of minutes by car or scooter. Alternatively, maybe Christmas Mass? Kuta International Church is slightly further away in Legian, and the Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church in central Kuta welcomes all.

Present shopping

Christmas shopping is so easy here, with boutiques, bazaars, Xmas markets offering bargains galore, definitely cheaper than at home. More sarongs, pretty clothes, jewelry and knick-knacks, art and interior decor all a walk from the villa, perfect for stockings and fun gifts for children of all sizes, and plenty of adult gear too.

Festive Villa Spread

Feasting ideas a plenty: Our in-house chef can prepare all sorts of goodies, charged at cost with a small commission added to cover the team for fetching it. Maybe a grand in-villa buffet with suckling pig center stage. If your tastes run to more traditional flavors, Bali Catering Co (the people behind Metis and Gourmet Cafe) offers a huge festive menu including favorites such as roast US turkey, hams, duck, and beef wellingtons, with all the trimmings, ideally ordered in advance, ready as you desire. They offer a selection of packages plus canapes, desserts, mince pies, and yummy puddings (www.balicateringcompany.com). The villa is fully staffed, on hand to serve, all the while keeping the place squeaky clean. Alternatively, many of the nearby resorts offer Christmas brunch buffets, notable choices being Starfish Bloo @ the W, Makase @ Indigo, and Seasalt @ Alila.

Yuletide Tipple in Seminyak?

Fancy a Yule cocktail? Nip into Ku De Ta, just round the corner from the villa, and sip a super chilled coffee martini, perfect at sunset to refresh the faithful, failing which, bubbles always satisfy. New in the hood is Manina Cocktail Bar, next to Sisterfields, serving seductive concoctions. Venture to PotatoHead which awaits your pleasure with truly gorgeous cocktails of which their Bali island iced teapot is worth a try.

No more dirty Seminyak Beaches….

No chilly snow in Bali, but head to the beach instead, as the crow flies, a short stroll in front of the villa. Unlike all previous Decembers, there are some amazing beach cleaning initiatives underway in Bali, which means those awful beach trash images are hopefully now a distant memory. The Sungai Watch is doing a fantastic job keeping the rivers free of waste and plastic, subsequently, the beaches and sea are blissfully clean. The beach in front of the Kinaree Estate is ideal for low-tide walks, stunning sunsets, or some of the world’s best surfing.

Villa Kinaree Massages or Seminyak Spas

If all the festivities are just too much, treat yourself to some exotic pampering. The Villa Kinaree team can organize massages in the privacy of the villa, or there are plenty of spas to be had just around the corner. Of course, if you park yourself under a beach umbrella, passing old Balinese ladies will offer traditional sun lounger sessions, so you don’t have to move far. Pick your spot near a beach bar and Bintangs, coconuts or something stronger can be delivered. We recommend liters of bottled water too.

Where to Party in Seminyak

And there is always somebody who wants to party! The beauty of staying at Villa Kinaree in Seminyak is its location. Traffic can be a little silly at this time of the year, but the villa’s prime location means easy access to the beach and the plethora of restaurants, bars, and clubs which are just a skip from Kinaree Estate’s doorstep: Favela, Champagne Bar, ShiShi, Red Ruby, Azul, Ku De Ta, PotatoHead, La Lucciolla, Mano, Motel Mexicola to name a few, not forgetting the always popular and colorful bars on Dyana Pura: Bali Joe, Mixwell and F Bar are close by, but far enough away not to disturb.

Come on, you know you want to
